In many different cultures, the expression “red thread” is used to describe a narration which follows a certain logic and chronologic order. A piece, novel or story in which is possible to detect a “red thread”, is composed with a consistent thought throughout the text. The expression derives from the ancient Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Following Ariadne’s thread, the hero could enter the palace, kill the beast and find his way out from the labyrinth. Moreover, the expression “Ariadne’s thread” in itself is equivalent to finding the solution of a problem, facing it with multiple means. It is used to describe situations or reasonings that take the form of a labyrinth (physical or mental), of a logical or ethical dilemma not easy to solve. The method of resolution proposes an exhaustive application of available paths, proceeding empirically and rationally at the same time. In this way, it is possible to analyze every point and every series of truths, in order to find the final solution through order and research.
