The 404FOTOMATON is an installation based on the issue of privacy policies and data sharing. Nowadays, we are continuously being robbed of personal data, which are then sold to companies for market analysis and targeting. The amount of private data shared unconsciously is alarming. By willingly entering the photo-booth and pressing the button the user accepts the “Terms of use”. The photo-booth takes four consecutive pictures, then arranged in the typical photo-booth format (4x4). At the end of the process, the file is exchanged with that of a previous randomly-chosen user. In a similar way, on the Internet, we don't know where our data is stored physically, nor by whom or how our data will be used.
